Acadia National Park is one of the most visited Parks in the nation. Located in Downeast Maine – Acadia National Park is a great place to vacation, go hiking, sightseeing or just relax. Acadia National Park began in 1916 as a monument and was named Sieur de Monts National Monument. When the land became a national park in 1919 it was named Lafayette National Park. Popular Acadia National Park activities include Bicycling, Boating, Climbing, Fishing, Hiking, Horseback Riding, Scenic Driving, Swimming, and Tide Pool watching. Indoor activity options include Hulls Cove Visitors Center or the Nature Center at Sieur de Monts Spring Area. The Abbe Musuem is also at Sieur de Monts Spring Area and tells the story of Maine’s Native American heritage. The Islesford Historical Museum on Little Cranberry Island shares the story of the Cranberry Isles and its people.Acadia National Park is actually a collection of Maine Islands – which make up the park. The highest peak on Mount Desert Island is called Cadillac Mountain. Acadia also features the downeast lighthouse known as Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse.

Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse
The Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse is the only lighthouse on Mount Desert Island. Located on the west side of the island this lighthouse has some short trails with beautiful views.
Cadillac Mountain

Acadia National Park Islands
